A lump of clay

This is a brief story of how a lump of clay saved the day. It all began with a ball of mud …

Hi there! I'm Angela, the soul of Tribe Pottery. I started dabbling with clay in the 1990s, as recommended by a health professional, to help improve my mental health. You see, clay is a totally natural outlet; it allows a unique form of escapism. You can relax and empty your mind, and it’s incredibly therapeutic! It really is the best natural therapy anybody can do.

It all started with that first lump of clay; I was hooked! As the years passed, my affinity with clay grew until, one day, the power of pottery enabled me to set up my own pottery studio.

The studio has taken on a path of its own, which, to say the least, I was quite reluctant to embrace at first. Nevertheless, I decided to go with it and thought, 'What could go wrong? Right!'

Working with clay for therapy evolved into something truly extraordinary, a natural extension of who I am. I finally found my purpose in life, and it had meaning.

Those who know me will tell you how playful I am. That playfulness makes working with clay such fun, and this is what I impart through the studio. But not just that; I also recognise the realities of how working with clay improves one's mental health and wellbeing. It's truly amazing!

And that's how Tribe Pottery came to be. What started off as therapy has flourished into something unique. Not too shabby for someone who suffers from long-term C-PTSD and DID.

So, if you're looking for an unforgettable experience for you or a loved one, join the tribe, come sling some mud, and have a blast!

P.S. I don't do classes ... I do playful experiences!

Oh, I almost forgot ... Why the name Tribe Pottery?

noun. ˈtrīb. plural tribes. : a social group composed chiefly of numerous families, clans, or generations having a shared ancestry and language. A group of people sharing an occupation, interest or habit.

I was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Africa, so the Spirit of Africa is in my veins .. it's my tribe. Just as clay is from the Earth beneath our feet, the merging of the two seemed fitting. And as your vibe attracts your tribe, why not share the gift of pottery making within the local community - the pottery tribe, aka Tribe Pottery?
